Welcome to Thirteen Seventy-Seven Counselling!

Together, we’ll walk the path towards healing and growth.

Alexis Knight - MSW/RSW

Hi, I'm Lexi! I'm the owner and operator of 1377 Counselling, and possess a master's degree in clinical social work specializing in trauma-informed practice. I'm registered and in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) and continually participate in trainings and supervision in order to ensure I am engaging in best practices and supporting my clients ethically and knowledgably.

I have an eclectic approach to therapy, and utilize a range of therapeutic approaches in order to tailor our work together in a way that fits your unique needs and personal experiences. Some of the modalities and theories I lean on include somatic therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, emotion-focused therapy and client-centered therapy.  More information on these modalities can be found on the services page.

With multiple years of front-line social work experience, I have worked with many different populations and multiple presenting concerns. Most of my experience has been in the mental-health and addictions sector, predominately working with men, youth, and adults. These experiences have greatly shaped my practice today and how I show up as a therapist.

Nothing is off the table in my sessions; big emotions, challenging situations, and colorful words are welcome and encouraged here. Whether you're navigating trauma, relationship challenges, substance use, or just looking for a space to process what's going on in your life, I’m here to support you in a way that feels genuine and grounding.

About me, personally

While it's important to understand the professional side of your therapist, I believe it's equally important to connect with the person behind the role.

One of my professors once said, "The toughest journey you'll ever make is from your head to your heart. Therapy is about using your soul to connect with the soul of another." Although I’ve been told I have a natural "gift" for connecting with others, this message has stayed with me and guides my practice every day. I've also found it to be true throughout my own personal healing journey as I moved from intellectualizing my feelings to actually feeling them. I understand the depths of trauma and the places it can take you when left unhealed, and how crucial connection to ourselves and others is as a means to heal through it and move forward. It's also part of the reason why my practice is called 1377! Thirteen and seventy-seven are my two lucky numbers and I often see them at times when I need a little reminder from the universe that things will be alright. I see them both as a sign to connect and stay grounded in my personal and spiritual beliefs. When brainstorming ideas for naming my practice I received a little "sign" and as soon as I said "thirteen seventy-seven counselling" out loud, I knew immediately that it was the perfect fit.

When I'm not working, you can find me spending time with my friends and family, exploring the outdoors on an adventure, or paddleboarding in the middle of a lake. Paddleboarding is one of my favorite hobbies—it brings me peace and joy, reminding me of the importance of balance and being present. I also have a passion for photography, capturing the beauty I encounter on my adventures (all the photos on this website were taken by me!). I'm an avid bird watcher, and always have a pair of my grandfathers binoculars with me to watch the many bald eagles I see. Plants, animals, stargazing, fishing, camping, and music are also huge sources of joy for me. Mother nature is a dear friend of mine and spending time with her is where I find the most peace!

Now that you know a bit about me, I look forward to getting to know a bit about you and supporting you on your journey!
